Scott Porter captured the “aftermath” of filming that controversial Ginny & Georgia season 3 scene.
Porter, 45, took to Instagram after the latest installment hit Netflix earlier this month to reflect on the work that went into the episodes, writing, “The aftermath of ‘that scene.’ That day was so tough. But it was also beautiful, and safe, and full of support.”
The actor included a photo of himself with costar Brianne Howey and director Sharon Lewis.
“This is … the moment after we cut on the scene. Captured beautifully by our on-set photog @amsetstills,” Porter added. “When you are charged with delivering something like we were that day, all you can do is give yourself to it. To trust the people you stand across from and those surrounding you, those behind the monitors and back in the writers room.”

Porter praised the cast and crew for their dedication, writing, “That’s what we do a lot on our show. Sharon led the way for us on this, and she was so open and clear on what we needed, how to deliver the intent of our creator and writers who carefully crafted this scene. And Bri delivered every time. Like always.”
He concluded: “I don’t have to do it nearly as often as the rest of our cast. I hope it landed how they hoped. I marvel at them, at our team. And I thank them all every day.”
For those that may not have caught up on season 3 yet, Ginny & Georgia put newlyweds Paul (Porter) and Georgia (Howey) at odds amid her murder trial. The tension got worse when Paul found out that Georgia was linked to the deaths of her ex-husbands, which she didn’t mention to him.
The nail in the coffin, though, was Georgia using her daughter Ginny’s (Antonia Gentry) positive pregnancy test to trick Paul into staying in their marriage. He figured it out, and they had a fight that triggered Georgia’s PTSD from past abusive relationships when Paul hit the wall above her head.
“As a person and fan invested in the show, I was very resistant to hitting the wall. I was very like, ‘I can’t do this. Paul can’t do that,’” Porter recalled exclusively to Us Weekly in June. “And our director Sharon said, ‘We’re doing it and it has to be done. But it’s coming out of hurt and it’s not out of anger.’”
Porter recalled how he tried to see it from Paul’s perspective after playing him since season 1.
“We really tried to utilize that in that scene and keep a lot of his frustration down and a lot more of his broken heart came out. The moment that actually I think clicked for me the most was in that scene when Georgia says the words, ‘I can’t trust you,’ to Paul,” he continued. “That was a messy scene and it was a messy day — but we did not do too many takes of it. We were so prepared. … It was just so emotionally charged and we felt really good about it leaving that day — even though the content is really rough. I guess it’s on TikTok everywhere [now].”

Porter noted that Paul wasn’t proud of his behavior.
“It’s an immediate regret for Paul at that moment. He never ever meant to hurt her. That was never his intention. But he is somebody who wants a family and he didn’t know that before he met her. He’s somebody who loves [her kids], Austin and Ginny, and has stepped in and said, ‘I will be there for them as a father figure.’ That’s a really tough thing to do to invest in,” he explained to Us. “I have a stepfather who came into my life at 6 years old and said, ‘You are not my blood, but I will be your father.’ We tried to bring some of that to Paul.”
He added: “He is out of his body at that point a little bit. But I’m not saying he was right. I’m not condoning the action. But definitely I can see what put him there in that moment.”
