King Charles Attends Trooping the Colour Amid Ongoing Cancer Battle

King Charles III enjoyed the 2025 Trooping the Colour parade despite his ongoing health issues.

The monarch, 76, attended the Saturday, June 14, event — which serves as his annual birthday celebration, though Charles’ actual birthday is not until November — alongside other members of the royal family, including wife Queen Camilla, with whom he rode in an open-top carriage in the procession. His son Prince William rode on horseback in the parade with the king’s sister, Princess Anne, and brother Prince Edward. William’s wife, Princess Kate Middleton, and their three children also attended, as did Edward and Anne’s respective spouses.

This is the second consecutive year that Charles has appeared at Trooping the Colour while undergoing treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer, which was discovered during a January 2024 procedure for benign prostate enlargement. Buckingham Palace announced Charles’ diagnosis in February 2024, confirming that he had “commenced a schedule of regular treatments.” He briefly paused his public duties before returning to work in April 2024.

This March, Charles was hospitalized due to the effects of his cancer treatments.

King Charles Is ‘Incredibly Fit’ as He Continues to ‘Manage’ Cancer Battle

“Following scheduled and ongoing medical treatment for cancer this morning, The King experienced temporary side effects that required a short period of observation in hospital,” the palace said in a statement at the time, noting that he had since returned to Clarence House to recover.

In May, a senior royal aide offered a rare update on Charles’ condition, telling Hello! Magazine, “I genuinely see no difference in him.”

“The thing you learn about this illness [cancer] is that you just manage it,” the aide said. “As long as you just do what the doctors say, just live your life as normal as possible and that’s exactly what he is doing.”

The aide added, “It’s no secret that he is still having treatment but because he is incredibly fit, he is just dealing with it all incredibly well. As everybody knows he is driven by duty, so he just gets on with it.”

King Charles III Through the Years: The Monarch’s Life in Photos

Amid Charles’ health battle, his rift with Prince Harry is still making headlines, especially after the Duke of Sussex, 40, acknowledged the relevance of his father’s cancer to the tensions in their relationship.

“I would love reconciliation with my family. There’s no point in continuing to fight anymore,” Harry told BBC News in May. “Life is precious. I don’t know how much longer my father has.”

Harry — who spoke out after losing his trial to reinstate his family’s security in the U.K., claiming that his father’s influence played a role in the case — also alleged that Charles “won’t speak to me.”

Royal expert Christopher Andersen exclusively told Us Weekly at the time that Harry’s comments about Charles’ health likely further harmed the two’s dynamic.

“If you are someone undergoing cancer treatment, to hear those words from your son would, I think, be fairly upsetting,” Andersen said. “Not exactly a resounding vote of confidence in your chances of making a full recovery.”
