‘Black Bag’ (2025)
Steven Soderbergh‘s spy thriller Black Bag features Michael Fassbender and Cate Blanchett as a pair of married MI6 operatives, George Woodhouse and Kathryn St. Jean. They’re far from the only couple in MI6, but their relationship status hits some roadblocks after George is told there’s a traitor in MI6.
Someone close to George has leaked sensitive intel, and it’s his job to determine who did it. There are five people who conceivably could be behind the leak, one of whom is his wife. As much as George would like to ignore that possibility, Kathryn’s suspicious activities make her his No. 1 suspect.

‘Safe House’ (2012)
Denzel Washington embraces his inner anti-hero in Safe House when he takes on the role of former CIA agent Tobin Frost. This time, Frost is in way over his head, thanks to some intel that someone is willing to kill to get their hands on. To protect himself, Frost allows himself to be captured and taken to a CIA safe house in South Africa.
That’s where Matt Weston (Ryan Reynolds) comes in. He wanted his safe house to be used so he could get experience and move on to a better assignment. Weston comes to regret that sentiment when the men who are after Frost kill the other CIA agents, forcing Matt to join forces with Frost to escape with their lives.

‘Get Out’ (2017)
Jordan Peele‘s Get Out is a horror story, but it’s also a top-notch thriller, especially if you don’t know what’s going on in the film. Chris Washington (Daniel Kaluuya) is a Black photographer who is dating Rose Armitage (Allison Williams), the daughter of wealthy white parents, Dean (Bradley Whitford) and Missy Armitage (Catherine Keener).
Chris notices something off about his entire trip to the Armitage estate, from the unusually friendly way Rose’s family receives him to the creepy looks their friends give him. His suspicions are further inflamed when he meets Andre Hayworth (LaKeith Stanfield), another Black man at the event. Andre is the one who utters the words “get out,” but Chris may not realize their meaning until it’s too late.

‘Compliance’ (2012)
Becky (Dreama Walker) becomes an unwitting victim in Compliance after she’s accused by the police of stealing money at the restaurant that employs her. The audience knows that the voice on the phone, Officer Daniels (Pat Healy), isn’t who he says he is. That doesn’t stop Becky’s manager, Sandra Frum (The Handmaid’s Tale‘s Ann Dowd), from strip-searching Becky and imprisoning her until the police arrive.
This is all a psychological game for Daniels, who keeps pressing the employees to mistreat Becky for his own vicarious enjoyment. Everyone seems to play by Daniels’ rules because they think he’s a cop, but even he can push things too far.

‘Memento’ (2000)
Before Christopher Nolan made his name directing the Dark Knight trilogy, his calling card in Hollywood was Memento. For his first trick, Nolan shows audiences the ending of Memento before they realize what it means. Then he let’s the story unfold in two parallel narratives before catching up with the conclusion.
The film revolves around Leonard Shelby (Guy Pearce), a man who lost his wife and his ability to make new long-term memories to a brutal attack. Now, Leonard’s memories reset nearly every ten minutes, and he’s not sure if he can trust the people around him, including Natalie (Carrie-Anne Moss) and Teddy (Joe Pantoliano). Everyone seems to take advantage of Leonard’s condition, including Leonard himself.

‘The Grey’ (2o12)
What movie villains can finally bring down Liam Neeson? The answer to that question is a pack of wolves in The Grey. John Ottway (Neeson) was hired to use his sharpshooting skills to keep grey wolves from coming close to an oil refinery in Alaska. But when Ottway and his colleagues attempt to fly back to civilization, a plane crash leaves them stranded in the wilderness.
Ottway and his fellow survivors, John Diaz (Frank Grillo), Jerome Talget (Dermot Mulroney), Pete Henrick (Dallas Roberts), Todd Flannery (Joe Anderson) and Jackson Burke (Nonso Anozie) soon realize that they’re knee-deep in wolf territory. And the wolves have turned them into their prey.

‘Manhunter’ (1986)
Decades before playing Logan Roy in Succession, Brian Cox was the first actor to play Hannibal Lecktor in Manhunter. Hannibal may be behind bars in this film, but he still finds a way to be dangerous to FBI Agent Will Graham (William Petersen). After putting Hannibal away, Graham is ready to leave the FBI behind. But Graham’s boss, Jack Crawford (Dennis Farina), has a new killer for him to find.
Graham’s latest target, Francis Dollarhyde (Tom Noonan), is just as twisted as Hannibal. Dollarhyde has even exchanged secret messages with Hannibal that lead directly back to Graham and his family. Manhunter may have been overshadowed by The Silence of the Lambs, but it remains a gripping thriller nearly 40 years after its release.
