Scary movies aren’t for everyone — some people have nightmares, others hate jump scares and Candace Cameron Bure is afraid of opening a portal to demons in her living room.
Bure, 49, explained her fear on the Tuesday, June 10, episode of her “The Candace Cameron Bure Podcast,” saying she won’t even allow scary movies to play on her TV.
“I don’t even want someone watching a scary movie in our house on the TV because to me that’s just a portal,” Bure, who is open about being a Christian, explained to her guests, son Lev and Pastor Jonathan Pokluda. “Listen, I’m in the film industry. I understand how it all works. However there’s still something that can be incredibly demonic while they’ve made it and I feel like it’s a portal that gets opened up and let in.”
She knows some may scoff at her comment, even in her own home. She admitted that sometimes it feels like Lev, 25, is “rolling his eyes” at her. (Bure and husband Valeri also share daughter Natasha, 26, and son Maksim, 23.)

“I feel like you guys make fun of me … particularly when I’m serious about a spiritual thing happening,” she said. “Like the portal. They laugh at me because of the portal.”
While you won’t likely be seeing Bure star in the next big summer slasher flick, you can expect her to stay in her holiday wheelhouse. The Full House alum left Hallmark in 2022 to work exclusively with Great American Family where she has become a staple of the network’s holiday programming. That’s exactly how she wants it.
“Lots of people asked if I feel like I’m in Christmas season all the time and love it or get tired of it? ‘Cause let’s see, we’re in May and I’ve already shot two Christmas movies,” she said via her Instagram Stories in May. “I shot one in March/April, Timeless Tidings of Joy, and now I’m shooting a Christmas movie right now, and I just feel like I finished Christmas, you know, four months ago.”

But don’t get her wrong — she’s not complaining about year-round Christmas.
“I never get sick of Christmas,” she continued. “I love Christmas. But as much as it’s Christmas-y on set I think I compartmentalize. I know it’s not the Christmas season and all I want is summertime right now. I’m so focused on summer and it’s actually not hot where we’re shooting. I’m not like dying in a sweater and a coat. It’s actually very cold on this Christmas movie.”
