‘Ginny and Georgia’s Gil Hurts Ginny Before [Spoiler] Gets Accused of Murdering Tom

Just as Georgia’s murder trial was falling apart for her, a new murder suspect was introduced.

During the eighth episode of season 3, which premiered on Thursday, June 5, Georgia (Brianne Howey) started to lose hope of getting out of prison. She was put behind bars after trying to run away amid her trial — even though she turned herself in.

Georgia was in for a surprise when Zion’s (Nathan Mitchell) girlfriend, Simone (Vinessa Antoine), agreed to be her lawyer. Simone took the case on as a favor to Ginny (Antonia Gentry), who was determined to get her mother out of jail. Ginny initially suggested outing Cynthia (Sabrina Grdevich) and Joe’s (Raymond Ablack) affair but Georgia refused (after finally exploring her feelings for Joe).

Ginny then seemingly thought of a different plan. Rewind back to earlier in the episode when Gil (Aaron Ashmore) told Ginny he was planning to move Austin (Diesel La Torraca) away to Michigan. Ginny disagreed and Gil hurt her out of anger before Cynthia stepped in. By the end of the episode, Austin was taking the stand and claiming he saw his dad — who up until that point he was starting to defend — kill Cynthia’s husband, Tom.

Based on the smile on Ginny’s face, it felt safe to assume she showed Austin the bruises she got from Gil’s abuse as proof that his dad wasn’t to be trusted. In secret, the siblings plotted a way to get Georgia to reasonable doubt in her trial while framing Gil as the prime suspect instead.

That was a major victory in an episode where things were falling apart for Marcus (Felix Mallard) and Max (Sara Waisglass). Through flashbacks and a narration switch, Max told her story about growing up as Marcus’ protector. Despite always looking out for Marcus, Max started to grow very concerned by his drinking. She was also struggling with feeling left out by her friends, her complicated love life and signs that pointed at her suffering from OCD.

It all came to a head on the night of Max’s play. After Marcus asked her not to tell their parents about his constant drinking, she did out of concern for him. She also broke up with Silver (Katelyn Wells) for not being a good friend to Marcus or a good girlfriend to her. Later, Max put a stop to Sophie’s (Humberly González) attempts to get back together.

Before season 3 premiered on Netflix, Waisglass, 26, spoke exclusively to Us Weekly about Max’s various dynamics on the show — starting with her onscreen brother.

“Felix always says this and he puts it so elegantly. All of our bickering really does come from a place of love. We know how to push each other’s buttons, but if anyone else pushed our buttons, we’d be pissed,” Waisglass told Us in 2023. “Like, ‘You don’t get to bully my sibling, I get to bully my sibling.’ I loved learning more about that dynamic this year. I mean, obviously, we get in there and we’re in the set and then it comes to life on its own.”

She continued: “And I remember a couple days where it was just me and Felix doing scenes like that all day and we just learned so much about both of our characters. I love how much they share with each other. I love how well they know each other. I love that Max will drop anything to be there for Marcus and I love that Marcus is the one to set Max in her place and boost her up when she thinks she’s lost her mojo. That’s a very sibling thing. I think they’re secretly each other’s best friends.”
