Even with increasing awareness surrounding the importance of SPF, anyone can forget to reapply in time. And depending on your skin type, location and the time of year, this can result in a nasty sunburn. But with sunny Hollywood’s proximity to the beach, and for the sake of their health, comfort and looks, celebrities are acclimated to treating sunburns with a few special tricks.
From gels to mists, there are so many ways celebrities treat their sunburns. Some are more effective than others, but we’ve listed a few options, below, so you can look camera-ready after falling asleep on the beach.
8 Celebrities’ Go-To Sunburn Treatments
1. Kim Kardashian: Kim K’s favorite Kiehl’s product is no longer made, but people rave about Kiehl’s Ferulic Brew Facial Treatment for the same problems, it’s even better than the one she used after falling asleep on a beach in Mexico. It happens to the best of us!
2. Chris Pratt: Chris Pratt made aloe vera part of his skincare routine after his his honeymoon with Katherine Schwarzenegger. Plain aloe is gentle, non-irritating, sustainable and famously soothing for sunburns.
3. Drew Barrymore: Drew Barrymore added a specific aloe vera gel to her “Drew’s Little Yellow Book: Summer Beauty Edition.” It’s a post-sun product that’s both healing and soothing, which is great for a burn.
4. Adriana Lima: More aloe: Brazilian model Adriana Lima uses an aloe gel mist after spending a day at the beach. Rather than a gel it’s a facial mist, so it’s great for treating any burns on your nose or forehead.
5. Catherine Zeta-Jones: Elizabeth Arden’s Eight Hour Cream is Catherine Zeta-Jones’ go-to for any ailment.
“[The Eight Hour Cream] is the answer to everything,” she told Glamour. “If you cut yourself, you put it on. If you have a sunburn, you put it on.”
6. Sofia Richie: If you need to be seen after a sunburn, do what Sofia Richie did: She used a quality foundation stick after getting sunburned in the south of France. Needless to say, it covered it right up.
7. Helen Mirren: Dame Helen knows anything can go wrong on vacation (like forgetting to reapply SPF!), and she used a colloidal silver gel to “magically resolve it.”
8. Zendaya: Even though Zendaya didn’t explicitly say she uses Aquaphor for sunburns, she uses it for dry skin, on her lips, for makeup… it’s her cure-all. So it goes without saying might consider using it to treat a sunburn.
