Thursday will usher in a day of high temperatures across the state, with the chance for scattered thunderstorms that could bring small hail to areas of Maine.
Temperatures across the state are expected to climb into the mid-80s to low 90s Thursday, with a high of 92 expected in Lincoln and Dover-Foxcroft. Highs in the greater Katahdin region will be in the high 80s, although temperatures on the mountain will likely only climb to the 70s, according to National Weather Service forecasters.

Temperatures will remain slightly cooler along Maine’s coastline, hitting highs in the mid-70s.
Inland communities as far north as Fort Kent and Escourt Station could see highs in the mid-80s Thursday.
Dew points will be in the mid-60s Thursday, making air temperatures feel about 2 to 3 degrees hotter than the bulb temperature. High humidity and high temperatures can quickly lead to heat stroke if you are doing strenuous activities, so exercise caution when working outdoors and stay hydrated.

A slow moving front is expected to move across the state through the day Thursday, whipping up a thunderstorm system in the afternoon that will develop as it moves northward.
The storm system could produce high winds as it moves through southern Maine, picking up steam as it moves over the western mountains.
Heavy rain, gusty winds and potential scattered hailstorms will develop with the thunderstorms throughout the evening, forecasters predict.
Thunderstorms are expected to clear by Friday, with inland highs in the 80s as Maine heads toward another rainy weekend.
