ELLSWORTH – Art lovers and curious minds are invited to explore the creative makerspace in downtown Ellsworth as the artists of the 16 State Street host their first-ever Open Studio event on Friday, June 6 from 1-6 p.m.
This special event offers an opportunity for the public to step inside the working studios of four people — Curt Larson, Ellen Lancaster, Rosalie Kell and Amy Reisman. From visual art and pottery to installation and theater, each space offers a unique window into the artistic and creative process.
Amy Reisman – A maker of functional beauty, Amy showcases wheel-thrown pottery, felted items, and handcrafted utilitarian goods such as soaps — perfect for daily use or meaningful gifts.
Curt Larson – A 2D painter and visual artist, Curt’s expressive work explores form, color, the human figure and texture.
Rosalie Kell – An interdisciplinary artist working in fabric sculptures and 3D forms, Rosalie’s intricate pieces blur the line between traditional craft and contemporary expression.
Ellen Lancaster – A celebrated educator, actor, and director, Ellen brings storytelling and performance into her space, offering a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the world of theater.
Studios are located on the second floor of the historic 16 State Street building. Visitors will be able to view works in progress, explore full artist portfolios, purchase handmade items and engage directly with the artists about their inspirations and techniques.
“The passion of these working artists and creative thinkers energize this revitalized space,” Otzwirk goes on to say, “I am a volunteer event organizer for the 16 State Street artists and excited to be a part of, and help support people who inspire me to be a better artist.”
This free and public event invites the community to drop by and celebrate the talent, creativity, and vibrant spirit of Ellsworth’s artistic community.
