Another man has been sentenced for his role in a Maine drug trafficking ring.
U.S. District Judge Stacey D. Neumann sentenced James Valiante, 43, to three years in prison and three years of supervised release, the U.S. attorney’s office said Thursday.
The charges come from a Maine state troopers stop on Interstate 95 in September 2019. The stop kicked off a two-year investigation into the drug trafficking ring that was found to be trafficking methamphetamine and fentanyl in Penobscot and Aroostook counties and elsewhere from 2018 to 2021.
So far, 20 individuals have been sentenced while two more await sentencing. The following people have been sentenced: Andrew Adams, 32, of Aroostook County will serve 10 years; Matthew Catalano, 38, of Penobscot County will serve more than 13 years; Christopher Coty, 44, of Bangor will serve four years; Jason Cunrod, 42, of Caribou will serve four years; Blaine Footman, 38, of Bangor will serve five years; Nicole Footman, 41, of Holden will serve three years; Dwight Gary Jr., 54, of Medway was sentenced to time served; Carol Gordon, 53, of Bangor was sentenced to time served plus six months of community confinement; Thomas Hammond, 26, of Charleston will serve seven years; Joshua Jerrell, 30, of Orrington was sentenced to time served; James King, 55, of Caribou will serve more than 13 years; Shelby Loring, 29, of Bangor was sentenced to time served; Danielle McBreairty, 34, of Glenburn will serve 20 years; John Miller, 24, of Caribou will serve more than four years; Aaron Rodgers, 43, of Bangor was sentenced to time served; Wayne Smith, 33, of Bangor was sentenced to more than seven years; Joshua Young, 48, of Presque Isle was sentenced to time served plus two years of home detention; Tamara Davis, 29, of Fall River, Massachusetts, was sentenced to time served; and Sarah McBreairty, 36, of Dixmont was sentenced to five years.
The following people are awaiting sentencing: Daquan Corbett, 31, of Brockton, Massachusetts, is scheduled to be sentenced on Aug. 11, 2025; and Daviston Jackson, 28, of Boston awaits a sentencing date.
