This is a show for the romantics and the true crime addicts rolled into one. Love After Lockup explores the lives and relationships of couples who meet and fall in love while one partner is incarcerated. The show delves into the challenges and dramas that unfold as these couples navigate their relationships once the imprisoned partner is released.
With its focus on raw and emotional storytelling, Love After Lockup offers viewers a unique glimpse into the trials and tribulations of love tested by unusual circumstances. It highlights themes of trust, adaptation, and the struggle to assimilate back into everyday life, making it compelling for audiences interested in real-life narratives that push the boundaries of conventional relationship dynamics.
While a prison romance might seem unusual to an outside observer, Love After Lockup shows that love can happen anywhere, and that no matter what your circumstances, every relationship faces issues of trust, adaptation, and emotional disconnection. After all, the road of true love never runs smoothly.
Amy Poehler is as warm and lovable as ever as the narrator of this reality show, which takes on a rather cold and unlovable subject: death. But much as Marie Kondo made throwing things away seem like an act of self-love, the Swedish tradition of “döständning,” or “death cleaning,” is an act of love for your friends and family. Döständning involves decluttering and organizing one’s belongings to lessen the burden on loved ones after passing away. In each episode, the show delves into the personal stories behind the clutter, transforming the act of tidying up into an exploration of legacy and memory.
You’ll love the way The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning combines the satisfying elements of makeover shows with heartfelt storytelling. The series showcases real-life transformations that go beyond mere physical environments to touch the emotional aspects of participants’ lives.
The Traitors is like a real-life game of “Murder” or “Mafia,” set in a castle in the Scottish Highlands. A group of contestants — many of whom are stars from other reality shows — converge on the castle with the knowledge that some among them are “Traitors,” tasked with killing off the competition in order to win a cash prize. The rest are “Faithfuls.” If the Faithfuls correctly identify all the Traitors, they win the pot instead. There’s backstabbing, trash-talking and colorful personalities that inevitably clash. It’s all overseen by the delightfully enigmatic Alan Cumming.
Bachelorette contestant Gabby Windey was in the most recent season along with Zac Efron’s brother, Dylan Efron, a Real Housewives alum and a British aristocrat. It’s one of the only shows where the multiverse of reality TV franchises collides, and the results are spectacularly watchable.
This multi-tiered, tropical spin on the 2005 game show Deal or No Deal is way more than just models holding briefcases. In this version, hosted by Joe Manganiello (True Blood), contestants don’t just choose a case full of money — they have to fight for it.
Physical challenges, scavenger hunts and strategic games are all on the table as contestants try to earn their chance to face the banker and walk away with the prize. (The dollar amount has ranged from single digits to millions.) Fans love DONDI because it’s a game show, house reality show, survival show and competition show all in one. Anything can happen.
Once upon a time, two modern-day princesses — Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie — took culture by storm with their reality show, The Simple Life. 20 years later, the “princesses” reunite for a celebration of their legacy. This three-part series shows Paris and Nicole’s attempt to stage a one-word opera based on the “Sanasa” song they made up during their beloved show. It’s a lighthearted, silly outing that’s full of nostalgia for the early 2000s.
Don’t expect anything profound — it’s pure comedy and a tribute to a duo whose names will forever be linked in our hearts. Come ready to giggle.
If you got a kick out of the North Carolina accents on season 3 of The White Lotus, you have to watch Southern Charm. This reality series follows a group of Southern socialites as they manage their businesses, their personal styles and busy social lives in Charleston, South Carolina.
The stars of this show have just as much big, loud drama as the Real Housewives or The Kardashians, but they do it all with a “bless your heart” backhanded style that really makes the show unique. The Charleston setting is stunning, full of old-money mansions and historical tidbits that create a specific sense of place. The fashion is a mix of classic Southern elegance and influencer glam. Featuring iconic, quirky characters like Shep Rose, Craig Conover and Kathryn Dennis, Southern Charm lives up to its name and then some.
This fashion design competition show was able to “make it work” for twenty seasons (with an upcoming revival on Freeform), so clearly they’re doing something right. The judges and hosts changed occasionally over the years, but Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn will always be the most memorable.
It’s amazing to watch such creative designers under the gun as they live together in complete isolation throughout the competition. With a limited budget and bizarre challenges (past contestants have had to make garments out of everything from grocery store items to whatever they happen to be wearing), the designers are pushed to the limit, but the results are some truly incredible works of wearable art. Project Runway alum Christian Siriano is set to host the upcoming revival.
