Clive Owen, an actor known for films such as “Children of Men” and “Closer,” will walk the streets of Waterville when he comes to Maine to receive the 2025 Mid-Life Achievement Award at the 28th annual Maine International Film Festival.
Owen will appear at the Maine Film Center and the Waterville Opera House for the screening of six of his films between July 11 and 20. He’ll receive the award at a screening of “Croupier,” a film that introduced him to many fans around the globe.
Mike Perreault, executive director of the Maine Film Center, said Owen is receiving the award because of his impact on the film industry and audiences.
“From his breakout role in ‘Croupier’ to acclaimed performances in ‘Children of Men’ and ‘Closer’ – and three other films of his that we’ll screen – Owen’s dynamic range and compelling screen presence have left an indelible mark on audiences worldwide,” Perreault said.
Owen joins a group of Maine film festival award winners that includes editor Thelma Schoonmaker and actors Ed Harris and John Turturro.
