May is coming to an end, which means all of your favorite streaming platforms will be rotating out their library of titles.

Three great movies on HBO and Max will be leaving the platform on May 31, including a classic ’80s comedy, a musical starring Meryl Streep and an indie comedy.

Watch With Us recommends you check out these three titles before they’re gone.

‘Ghostbusters’ (1984)

“When there’s something strange in your neighborhood, who you gonna call?”

Even if you’ve never seen the movie, you already know the answer is “Ghostbusters!” This paranormal comedy film is a cultural touchstone for a reason. follows a team of eccentric parapsychologists in New York City who start a ghost-catching business after losing their academic jobs. The plot centers around Dr. Peter Venkman, played by Bill Murray, Dr. Raymond “Ray” Stantz, played by Dan Aykroyd and Dr. Egon Spengler, portrayed by Harold Ramis. They are joined by Winston Zeddemore, played by Ernie Hudson.

8 Great Comedy Movies on Netflix Right Now (May 2025)

The film comically intertwines elements of science fiction and supernatural horror as the team tackles various ghostly menaces, culminating in a climactic showdown with a malevolent ancient deity. Alongside the main cast, Sigourney Weaver and Rick Moranis deliver standout performances as humans possessed by ancient spirits, the “Gatekeeper” and the “Keymaster.”

Maybe you ain’t afraid of no ghosts, but you should be afraid of missing your chance to watch Ghostbusters on Max.

‘Mamma Mia!’ (2008)

Grab your sandals and your disco attire, because it’s time to journey to the Greek island of Kalokairi where Donna and her Dynamos will turn you into a “Dancing Queen.” The Broadway show Mamma Mia! pioneered the whole “jukebox musical” concept that’s become so popular since then (see & Juliet, Jersey Boys or Moulin Rouge), and the movie version is an energetic and bubbly tribute. Sophie (Amanda Seyfried), a young bride-to-be who is determined to have her father walk her down the aisle at her wedding. The catch is, she doesn’t know who her father is.

After discovering her mother’s old diary, Sophie invites three men who could potentially be her father to her wedding without telling her mother, Donna (Meryl Streep). The narrative unfolds as the three men – Sam (Pierce Brosnan), Bill (Stellan Skarsgård), and Harry (Colin Firth) – arrive on the island, causing comedic and emotional chaos for Donna and her long-time friends (and former bandmates), played by Julie Walters and Christine Baranski. Not all the movie cast members are Broadway-level singers (Brosnan is pretty croaky in his musical numbers), but their chemistry and enthusiasm make the movie a delightful viewing experience.

‘The Disaster Artist’ (2017)

The Room is a cult classic film that has become infamous for its nonsensical plot, wooden performances and the unplaceable accent of its writer/director/star Tommy Wiseau. By most accounts, it’s a movie that should never have been made. But it sure is fun to find out how it got made. Directed by James Franco, who also stars as the enigmatic Wiseau, the movie is based on Greg Sestero and Tom Bissell’s non-fiction book of the same name. It chronicles the making of the bizarre film and the bizarre friendship between Greg Sestero (Dave Franco) and Wiseau as they embark on an unlikely journey to create what became a notoriously infamous film.

11 Great Rom-Com Movies on Hulu Right Now (May 2025)

The film features a blend of comedy and heartfelt moments, showcasing the unpredictable nature of Wiseau’s vision and the challenges faced in bringing The Room to life. The film also benefits from its engaging supporting cast, including Seth Rogen, Alison Brie, and Zac Efron, among others. What truly resonates with viewers is the film’s underlying message of passion and perseverance, celebrating those who dare to dream regardless of the odds.
