Corruption is “abuse of entrusted power for private gain.” I believe President Donald Trump is corrupt. While Americans are experiencing higher prices and reduced services as a result of his actions, he enriches himself.
Days before his inauguration, he issued crypto meme coins — $Trump and $Melania. Then he invited 220 coinholders to a private dinner, calling it, “The most EXCLUSIVE INVITATION in the World” and offered a separate reception and VIP tour “WITH YOUR FAVORITE PRESIDENT!” to the top 25 investors. The resulting surge in the price of the coins made him an estimated $320 million. Buyers acknowledged purchasing the coins to obtain face-to-face contact with the president. This is corruption: selling access to presidential power for money.
The most recent example is the Qatar royal family’s “gift” of a $400 million luxury jet. A “flying palace,” the plane will be the new Air Force One. Trump claimed that the plane is a gift to the Defense Department. However, it will be given to his presidential library when he leaves office.
Qatar is highly dependent on the U.S. for military equipment. In March, the Trump administration approved the sale of nearly $2 billion in drones, bombs and missiles to Qatar. Once again, it seems Trump is selling his influence in return for personal luxuries, while his tariff policies drive up prices for ordinary Americans.
Write to the Maine congressional delegation today. Demand that they stand up and stop these steals.
