Mainers are used to traffic jams during long holiday weekends. But seldom do those jams follow us into the woods.
That’s what happened at Acadia National Park’s Beehive Trail over Memorial Day weekend.
A video posted to TikTok showed standing-room-only crowds snaking their way up the trail, practically bumper to bumper, so to speak.
The Beehive is one of the more popular hiking destinations in Acadia, despite only rising to 520 feet in elevation and covering less than 2 miles. It features stunning views of Sand Beach and the ocean.
The Beehive Trail features iron rungs and switchbacks that zigzag up to the summit. Hikers can then take a gradual descent on The Bowl Trail.
