I am deeply concerned about the so-called “big beautiful” tax and budget bill that the U.S. House recently passed and will likely in some form be sent to the Senate soon for debate and amendments.
I urge Sens. Angus King and Susan Collins to please speak out against the trillions of dollars in tax cuts for already extremely wealthy Americans included in this bill. As they surely know, in this proposed legislation these tax cuts are financed by budget cuts that will hurt many if not most Mainers.
Please, King and Collins, give speeches from the Senate floor opposing this bill and talk daily about your opposition to reputable news outlets. Let all of us here in Maine know your opposition to President Donald Trump and the House of Representatives on this issue and work to defeat this bill.
I thank them for their service to the people of Maine. We are counting on both of them to raise their voices in strong opposition to what I consider a cruel and dangerous bill.
