
The search continues for a clam fisherman missing off the coast of Milbridge.
Alton Wallace, 51, of Milbridge was reported missing about 4 p.m. Sunday when he failed to return home after a day on the water.
Searchers found his 14-foot skiff near Pinkham Island. Wallace’s cellphone last pinged about 7:30 a.m. Sunday.
The Coast Guard, Maine Marine Patrol, other state and local agencies, and more than 15 volunteers failed to find him Sunday.
The Coast Guard suspended its search effort at 8:45 a.m. Monday.
The Maine Marine Patrol has kept up the search for Wallace, and searchers, including a dive team and pilot, planned Thursday to return to Fickett Point at the mouth of the Narranguagus River to look for him.
