Jennifer Lopez made a stunning public appearance after revealing she sustained an injury while rehearsing to host the 2025 American Music Awards.

Lopez, 55, was seen arriving at a birthday celebration for John Kander in New York on Monday, May 19, in a light pink dress. She was seen that same night in a white ensemble for an after party for John Kander at Ring Them Bells: A Birthday Celebration.

The outing came after Lopez suffered a facial injury. “So this happened,” she wrote via Instagram Stories earlier this month alongside a photo that showed her swollen nose. “(During @amas rehearsals).”

Lopez confirmed she had to get stitches, adding, “Thank you for stitching me up Dr. Diamond. A week later and a whole lotta ice, I’m good as new.”

Jennifer Lopez’s Ageless Moments Through the Years

Despite the health scare, Lopez is on the mend and ready to perform at the May 26 awards show. She is the fourth music artist in history to host the AMAs twice following Lionel Richie, Diana Ross and Pitbull.

“We are thrilled to welcome Jennifer Lopez back to host the American Music Awards,” Dick Clark Productions CEO Jay Penske said in an April statement. “Jennifer’s incredible talent and incomparable stage presence make her the ideal host of the show. We know she will bring her one-of-a-kind energy to the official kick-off celebration of summer.”

Lopez previously hosted the awards show in 2015.

“This was so long ago, but the energy in the room was very electric,” she recalled during the awards show’s 50th anniversary special in October 2024. “Winning a fan-voted award is incredibly special because it’s directly from the people that you make the music for. It’s just a humbling experience.”

Before taking the stage, Lopez made headlines when finalizing her divorce from Ben Affleck. The former couple tied the knot in July 2022 after rekindling their romance — they were previously engaged from 2002 to 2004. Lopez filed for divorce two years later in August 2024.

Jennifer Lopez’s Dating History: A Timeline of Her Famous Relationships

“She was very in love with Ben, but love isn’t enough sometimes,” a source told Us Weekly about Lopez at the time. “Things worked out for the best and how they were supposed to.”

Earlier this year, Affleck, 52, broke his silence on the high-profile split when asked by GQ why he chose to be involved in Lopez’s 2024 documentary, The Greatest Love Story Never Told. The film was a companion piece to her 2024 visual album, This Is Me … Now, and included scenes where Affleck discussed their relationship.

“There’s a tendency to look at breakups and want to identify root causes or something. But honestly … the truth is much more quotidian than probably people would believe or would be interesting,” he explained in March. “There’s no scandal, no soap opera, no intrigue [about our divorce]. The truth is, when you talk to somebody, ‘Hey, what happened?’ Well, there is no, ‘This is what happened.’”

Affleck concluded: “It’s just a story about people trying to figure out their lives and relationships in ways that we all sort of normally do.”
