A Pittston man was found dead Wednesday morning on Cobbosseecontee Lake.
Kyle Armstrong, 27, went bass fishing alone on the Monmouth lake about noon Tuesday but his family became worried when he failed to return after dark, according to Mark Latti, a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.
Rescuers began searching for him about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, and around 1 a.m. Wednesday they found his empty boat on Cobbosseecontee Lake, Latti said Thursday morning.
His body was found later that morning in the water.
Armstrong was wearing a lifejacket, and neither speed nor alcohol is considered a factor in his death. Game wardens believe Armstrong suffered a medical event while on the lake.
His body was taken to the Maine medical examiner’s office in Augusta to determine a cause of death.
The death remains under investigation.
