A woman is accused of starting the fire that burned her Rockport home on Tuesday afternoon.
Andrea Annis, 35, has been charged with arson, refusing to submit to arrest or detention, burning prohibited material and burning without a permit, according to Shannon Moss, a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety.
Annis allegedly started a fire that burned her West Street home, and when first responders arrived, they discovered evidence of several other fires on the property, Moss said Wednesday morning.
Annis, who lived alone, escaped the blaze on her own.
She was taken to the hospital for evaluation. Once she is released, Annis will be taken to the Knox County Jail in Rockland.
The investigation is ongoing.
No additional information was released.
