A man has been accused of setting fire to a Bangor business on Monday night.
Kerry Smith, 30, has been charged with arson, according to Shannon Moss, a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety.
Smith allegedly started a fire at Bangor Braces on Harlow Street about 11:51 p.m., Moss said Tuesday.
The fire began outside the building near two plastic trash cans. The fire then spread to its interior.
The fire caused about $20,000 in damage.
No one was injured in the fire.
Bangor Braces said in a Tuesday morning social media post that it was closed for the day and unable to see patients.
“We are working quickly to have the damage cleaned up and will be reaching out to get patients rescheduled as soon as we are able,” Bangor Braces wrote.
Smith was being held at the Penobscot County Jail.
The investigation is ongoing.
