Though Gwyneth Paltrow’s kids are all grown up, they still appreciate how they were raised by their famous parents.
“They are very proud of the iconoclastic approach that we have taken in the past,” Paltrow, 52, told E! News in an interview published on Monday, May 12, referring to daughter Apple, 20, and son Moses, 19, whom she shares with ex-husband Chris Martin. “Looking back, there are always things that we used to write about [at Goop] where people were like, ‘Oh my gosh, what is this?’ And now they’re so mainstream. My kids are really proud of the fact that we’re always kind of first in this space.”
Paltrow and Martin, 48, became parents with the birth of Apple in 2004 and expanded their family with Moses in 2006. Two years after her 2016 split from Martin, Paltrow tied the knot with husband Brad Falchuk and became stepmom to his two kids — Isabella, 19, and Brody, 18 — whom he shares with his ex-wife, Suzanne Bukinik.
Over the years, Paltrow has been open with fans about her parenting style, from emphasizing the importance of living a healthy lifestyle and enforcing strict social media rules to calling Apple’s “sense of entitlement” a “beautiful” thing back in 2020 and more.

“We try to always strike a balance,” she said on Monday. “For me, manners are super important. So, that was kind of the structure: manners and education. I want a lot of expression and individuality and freedom running through that structure. So, that’s kind of how we looked at it.”
Paltrow went on to note that she thinks Apple and Moses will likely follow in her and Martin’s creative footsteps. “They are definitely artist souls,” she shared. “I do think that [a] mix of structure and art is really coming through in who they are now. They’re both academic, and yet they have these beautiful free spirits and I think they will pursue art, which I think is wonderful.”
Earlier this year, the actress revealed that she once had regrets over not having more kids. “My dad [Bruce Paltrow] used to say the only regret he had in his entire life was not having more kids, and I felt like that for a long time until I got yours too,” she told Falchuk, 54, on the April 8 episode of her “Goop” podcast. “I got to tack on.”
She admitted that in recent years, she’s begun to feel “really light and really cohesive” watching her and Falchuk’s kids grow up and leave the nest. “I feel like it keeps deepening, and it’s such a particular kind of delight to see our four kids in their own relationships and being friends with each other and loving each other,” she gushed.

In an interview with People earlier this month, the Goop founder said she encourages her children “to be true to themselves and to do what feels right to them,” adding, “I think, like, all the mistakes I made were being talked in or out of something.”
She continued, “I really want them, even if I don’t agree with it … to be really true to their idea of their purpose and their individuality. [Apple] still has another year of college, so, you know, I’m like right, soak it in, and you know, it goes really fast.”
