An Uber driver was sentenced Friday for a sexual assault that happened in Bangor more than two years ago.
Joseph Graston was sentenced to five years in prison with all but three years suspended, followed by two years of probation, according to the Penobscot County district attorney’s office.
The victim was “celebrating a life event” at a Bangor nightclub in early June 2022 and had become intoxicated, police said at the time.
She took an Uber home, and the next morning contacted Bangor police to report that she believed that she had been sexually assaulted.
After an investigation, Graston was arrested and charged with unlawful sexual contact in September 2022.
A judge found him guilty of the assault in March.
