BATH – Bath Housing is accepting lease applications for 18 income-restricted, non-age restricted two-bedroom apartments located at 520 Centre St., opening in July. The property is owned by Bath Housing Development Corporation and managed by Bath Housing.
Debora Keller, executive director of Bath Housing, recognizes that more diverse housing options are needed to meet employers’ workforce demands, as they compete for workers throughout the region; and to meet the population’s diverse housing needs, from first apartments to family homes to options for downsizing later in life. For example, 520 Centre St. will offer door-to-door access to Bath Iron Works via the City of Bath bus system, which runs for $1 each way. A BIW employee shuttle also picks up less than a mile away from 520 Centre St.
“When workers can find housing that not only fits their finances, but also their employment, transportation, education, healthcare and social needs, the entire region benefits. People and families can build lasting connections,” said Keller. “Local businesses can hire and whole communities can grow. As our first new construction, multifamily housing project since 1984, 520 Centre St. is a proud moment in Bath Housing’s history, and an example of how we are advancing forward-thinking housing solutions so that all who want to call Sagadahoc County home can live, work and thrive together.”
Eligible applicants must meet minimum and maximum income limits. As of April, monthly rents are $1,850 per month and include utilities (heat, hot water, electricity, air conditioning and garbage collection). Additional screening criteria apply, including rental history and background checks. For complete eligibility information and to apply, interested applicants should visit www.bathhousing.org, send an email to [email protected] or call 207-443-3116.
This modern, sustainability- and accessibility-focused apartment community offers high-quality living and convenient access to the Congress Street walking path, downtown businesses, major employers, local schools, public transit, shopping plazas and more. 520 Centre Street will also house Bath Housing’s administrative offices on the ground floor. Sustainability features include high-performance insulation, LED lighting, rooftop solar system offsets and improved air quality systems, among other features.
Founded in 1969, Bath Housing advances forward-thinking housing solutions so that all who want to call Sagadahoc County home can live, work and thrive together. It does this by partnering with community, state and federal leaders to develop sustainable, high-quality, and fair stable housing; administering federally funded housing voucher programs; and pioneering solutions to the region’s housing challenges, including Bath Housing’s award-winning Comfortably Home program helping eligible seniors safely age in place.
