Johnny “Bananas” Devenanzio shared a brief snippet of a golf cart ride in the wake of his reported involvement in NFL legend John Elway’s own fatal crash.
“Yeehaw Barbie reporting for dusty,” Devenanzio, 42, wrote via Instagram on Friday, May 2, alongside a montage of moments from the 2025 Stagecoach Festival on April 25.
In one still, The Challenge alum filmed himself kicking up his cowboy boots for a ride in a golf cart in between sets at Stagecoach. The annual country music festival was held on April 26 and 27 in Indio, California.
Later that weekend, Devenanzio was reported to be present during a deadly golf cart incident that killed Elway’s agent, Jeff Sperbeck. TMZ reported on Friday that Devenanzio “tried to keep [Sperbeck] alive” after the golf cart incident. (The MTV personality has not addressed the report or the fatal incident, though his Instagram video was filmed the day before. Us Weekly has reached out for comment.)

Elway, 64, had allegedly been driving a golf cart at the Madison Club in La Quinta, California on April 26, when his business partner, Sperbeck, fell off the back of the vehicle and hit his head on the asphalt, according to multiple reports. While there was no indication that Elway had been driving negligently, Sperbeck ultimately died following complications from his injuries. He was 62.
“I am absolutely devastated and heartbroken by the passing of my close friend, business partner and agent Jeff Sperbeck,” Elway said in an April 30 statement. “There are no words to truly express the profound sadness I feel with the sudden loss of someone who has meant so much to me.”
He continued, “My heart and deepest sympathies go out to Jeff’s wife, Cori; his children Carly, Sam and Jackson; and everyone who knew and loved him. Jeff will be deeply missed for the loyalty, wisdom, friendship and love he brought into my life and the lives of so many others.”

Sperbeck had worked as Elway’s agent throughout the latter’s 16-season career in the NFL. They later teamed up to launch their 7Cellars winery.
