April was a quiet month for Netflix, but it had some notable highlights, like the final season of You and the premiere of the Western romance Ransom Canyon starring Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly.
May promises to be a little more exciting for the streamer as each week has at least one must-watch show for you to watch. The month begins with a fresh take on a forgotten comedy classic, The Four Seasons, with a cast of SNL veterans and a two-time Oscar nominee.
Later, the thriller series Sirens will lure viewers into its web of secrets, revelations and betrayals. Finally, Netflix closes out May with a Scottish police procedural created by the man who wrote and directed The Queen’s Gambit with Anya Taylor-Joy.
‘The Four Seasons’ (2025) – May 1
One of the biggest hits of 1981 was The Four Seasons, a comedy of manners chronicling the lives of three married couples in different seasons of the year. Over 40 years later, it’s time for an update, and Netflix is adapting the feature film into an eight-episode limited series this May.

The streamer has assembled an impressive lineup of actors as well, with Tina Fey, Steve Carell, Colman Domingo, Will Forte and more taking on the roles once played by Alan Alda, Carol Burnett, Rita Moreno and others. Alda is also returning, and while the show promises to keep the original’s focus on the comical ups and downs of modern marriage, it will also be a little bit more serious than its predecessor.
‘Sirens’ (2025) – May 22
Devon (Meghann Fahy) loves her younger sister Simone (Milly Alcock), so it’s understandable she’s just a little curious about the young girl’s unorthodox relationship with her employer, Michaela Kell (Julianne Moore). As the wife of a billionaire and a prominent animal activist, Michaela seems too good to be true to Devon.
When she’s invited to spend time with both women on Michaela’s island over Labor Day weekend, Devon believes she can persuade her sister to come home with her. But Michaela has other plans for Simone and, as Devon soon finds out, for her as well.
Sirens is perfect for anyone who enjoyed Netflix’s 2024 hit The Perfect Family and Hulu’s 2021 thriller Nine Perfect Strangers. Both of those starred Nicole Kidman and, while she’s not in Sirens, Julianne Moore is, and she’s perfect as the vaguely sinister leader of a wellness cult who preys on young girls like Simone.
‘Dept. Q’ (2025) – May 29
Carl Morck (Leap Year‘s Matthew Goode) is good at his job and bad at everything else. That’s OK if you’re a Scottish detective used to bending the rules, and Morck will break them all to capture criminals. But when he’s assigned to lead Department Q, a new police unit focused on solving cold cases, he’ll have to work within the system to solve mysteries no one else can.

Dept. Q doesn’t stray too much from the U.K. crime mystery formula: there’s a haunted detective as a lead character, moody shots of an imposing urban city and a motley crew of cops who all offer colorful commentary on the latest case. But the series is created by Scott Frank, who wrote and directed the excellent crime thrillers The Lookout and A Walk Among the Tombstones, and his involvement promises to separate Dept. Q from the rest of the shows in the crowded genre.
