After waiting more than two years, Wednesday fans finally got a glimpse at season 2 — which will be split into multiple parts.

Netflix released the first look at the new season on Wednesday, April 23, where Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) returned to Nevermore Academy for a second term. The trailer confirmed that part 1 will be released on August 6, while part 2 is slated for September 3.

In the sneak peek clip, Wednesday was in more danger than ever, but there were also several fun additions to the series — including some new characters.

Viewers were originally introduced to a new version of the iconic Wednesday Addams character when the show premiered in November 2022. Before Ortega took over as the moody and spooky teenager, Christina Ricci famously brought the character to life in several Addams Family films, which took inspiration from Edward Gorey‘s illustrations.

Everything to Know About Season 2 of ‘Wednesday’

The first season followed the titular character’s attempts to master her psychic powers at Nevermore Academy while dealing with a killing spree at the hands of a mysterious monster. Season 2, meanwhile, picks up after a time jump with most of the cast returning alongside some new additions.

Ortega, Emma Myers, Hunter Doohan, Joy Sunday, Georgie Farmer and Moosa Mostafa will return to Nevermore Academy. Jamie McShane, who was a series regular in the first season has been moved to guest star status. Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Isaac Ordonez and Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo were promoted to series regulars.

So far, Steve Buscemi, Billie Piper, Evie Templeton, Owen Painter and Noah Taylor were announced as new series regulars. Meanwhile, Haley Joel Osment, Christopher Lloyd, Joanna Lumley, Thandiwe Newton, Frances O’Connor, Heather Matarazzo, Joonas Suotamo and Lady Gaga will appear as guest stars.

Osment, 37, previously spoke exclusively to Us Weekly about how he found a way to remain spoiler-free about season 2 — despite being on the show.

“I intentionally didn’t read anything that I wasn’t in for that season,” Osment shared with Us in August 2024. “I want to protect myself as an audience member, too.”

Osment noted that he was thrilled to get the chance to join the cast of one of his favorite shows, adding, “It was definitely a surreal experience where I had watched and enjoyed the first season. Then after not so much time, you find yourself on set with all those same people and getting directed by Tim Burton — one of my favorite directors who I’ve admired so much for so long.”

While Osment couldn’t share any details, he hinted that fans would have a great time.

“It’s worth it because I know there are some pretty big thrills in store for people in season 2 and the cast is extraordinary,” he told Us. “I honestly didn’t even know if they were going to announce that I was in it for a while. Then, coming back from Ireland, I was like, ‘Wow, I’m going to have to just not be able to tell anybody while I was in Ireland for a year.’ But luckily they made that easier for me.”

Most details about season 2 have been kept under wraps but considering the casting decisions, The show seemingly plans to expand the role of Wednesday’s family while her personal life will likely take a back seat.

Season 1 of Wednesday is currently streaming on Netflix.
