A man was found dead Monday outside his vehicle in the Schoodic section of Acadia National Park, according to a park official.
The identity and cause of death for the man had not been determined Tuesday morning. Acadia officials said the incident never involved any threat to public safety.
The man was found by a passer-by around 4 p.m. Monday in a pullout along the one-way section of Schoodic Loop Road south of Frazer Point in the town of Winter Harbor, a park spokesperson said. An ambulance crew that responded determined the man was dead. No other details about the incident were being released Tuesday morning.
The man’s body has been taken to the state medical examiner’s office to determine his identity and cause of death, the park said. The National Park Service is leading the investigation.
