A Massachusetts man was arrested after allegedly leading police on a high-speed chase across two counties.
Luis Andres Lorenzo Rondon, 24, of Lawrence, Massachusetts, has been charged with eluding an officer, reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, driving to endanger and criminal speeding, according to Shannon Moss, a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety.
Police learned that shots were reportedly fired on Park Street in Paris about 11:33 p.m. Wednesday.
When officers arrived, they saw Rondon leaving the scene in a blue SUV, which they tried to stop, Moss said Thursday morning.
But Rondon didn’t stop, leading police on a high-speed chase across Androscoggin and Oxford counties before coming to an end when he hit a spike mat on Route 26 in Mechanic Falls and crashed in a field, according to Moss.
Rondon and three passengers were taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, where one passenger was treated for serious but not life-threatening injuries. The other passengers were treated and released, Moss said.
Police recovered two guns after the chase, according to Moss.
Rondon was taken to the Androscoggin County Jail in Auburn.
No one was injured in the shooting in Paris. No additional information about that was immediately available.
The investigation is ongoing.
