Travis Kelce is proving his place on the board of Taylor Swift‘s Tortured Poets Department.
During the Wednesday, April 16, episode of “New Heights,” the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, 35, asked his brother, Jason Kelce, about the first R-rated movie he remembered seeing. Jason, 37, couldn’t think of a title offhand, but Travis knew his own pick right away.
“The one I remember watching that I didn’t even realize was rated R was American Pie, and that was when we were, like, 10,” Travis said. “I feel like I had to have watched a couple before that.”
When Jason insisted that their dad, Ed Kelce, couldn’t have approved the movie, Travis revealed that he didn’t see it with their mom, Donna Kelce, either.
Travis Kelce Sings Along to Taylor Swift’s ‘So High School’ Performance
“I was just f***ing going to the movies,” Travis recalled. “I forget how I got in … I might have been there with someone else’s parents.”
The reference to American Pie sent alarm bells ringing for Swifties online, with one fan account immediately clocking the connection to the song “So High School.”
“I’m watching American Pie with you on a Saturday night
,” the X user wrote on Wednesday alongside a clip from the podcast.
“So High School” appears on the Anthology version of Swift’s 11th album, The Tortured Poets Department, which was released in April 2024. Swift surprised fans at the time with the extended double album, which brought the tracklist to 31 songs in total.
While much of TTPD is a reflection on Swift’s relationships with and splits from Joe Alwyn and Matty Healy, listeners also dug for nods to her romance with Travis, which began in summer 2023.

“You knew what you wanted and, boy, you got her,” Swift sings on “So High School,” which fans believe is a shout-out to how Travis attempted to make his first move with a friendship bracelet at an Eras Tour concert in Kansas City.
The song is also loaded with football references, from “You know how to ball, I know Aristotle” to “I feel like laughing in the middle of practice.”

Swift snuck more sports nods onto “The Alchemy,” which appears at the end of TTPD‘s standard edition. “So when I touch down / Call the amateurs and cut ’em from the team / Ditch the clowns, get the crown / Baby I’m the one to beat,” she sings in the chorus.
In the bridge, she seemingly gushes over a moment she shared on the field with Travis after the Chiefs won the 2024 Super Bowl, which she attended with a group of her A-list friends. “Where’s the trophy? / He just comes running over to me,” Swift sings.
Swift made her second Super Bowl appearance earlier this year with a very different result. Travis and the Chiefs were defeated by Jason’s former team, the Philadelphia Eagles, in February. Since then, the couple have laid low.
“Taylor and Travis are doing great, and they’re still very much together and in love. They’re just taking a break from the public eye,” a source exclusively told Us Weekly earlier this month.
A second insider added that the pair are “enjoying some R&R after working their butts off, making the most of their time off” and “fully living their best lives.”
