A Portland woman allegedly led police on a chase in a stolen car Thursday.
Deserai Collins, 33, was charged with reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, eluding, failure to submit to arrest or detention, operating after suspension, and unauthorized use of property, according to the Yarmouth Police Department.
Police spotted Collins allegedly driving north on Route 1 in Yarmouth in a car reported stolen out of Portland, Yarmouth police said Thursday.
An officer attempted to stop her Thursday afternoon, but Collins allegedly fled and went the wrong way on Interstate 295.
Police caught up with Collins at an offramp, where an officer attempted to arrest her. But Collins allegedly drove into the cruiser, nearly hitting the officer, and continued her flight, according to police.
The pursuit continued into Freeport and back onto I-295 and to Portland.
In Portland, Collins allegedly hit another Yarmouth police cruiser before the chase eventually came to an end near a railroad crossing on Fore Street.
During her arrest, Collins allegedly injured two officers. One officer was treated and released from the hospital, while the other didn’t require treatment.
Both cruisers were rendered functionless.
She was taken to the hospital for evaluation before being transferred to the Cumberland County Jail in Portland.
The investigation is ongoing, and more charges are possible.
