The John T. Gorman Foundation has hired Jessica Drescher, PhD, as its senior research associate. In this role, Drescher leads the Foundation’s efforts to evaluate the impact of its initiatives, using research and data to improve programs and outcomes for children and families in Maine.
Prior to joining the Foundation, Drescher conducted research at Mathematica, Stanford University and Harvard University and has published articles on topics including rural educational opportunity and child well-being. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Colby College, her Ed.M. in education policy and management from Harvard University, and her Ph.D. in Education Policy from Stanford University. She grew up in Penobscot County.
The John T. Gorman Foundation is a private foundation based in Portland with a mission to make Maine a more equitable place where all children and families can thrive. This focus on strengthening children and families reflects the recognition of our founder Tom Gorman that his personal success and achievement were largely derived from the support provided to him by his family and community, as well as his desire to provide those with fewer advantages opportunities to succeed.
