John Stamos is addressing his appearance at Mar-a-Lago last weekend.

The Full House star, 61, took to his Instagram Stories on Monday, April 7 to offer an explanation after photos circulated that showed him sporting a tuxedo at an event held inside President Donald Trump’s Florida resort. Many fans of Stamos expressed their disappointment online.

“I accepted the invitation to emcee the Palm Beach Ray of Hope Gala — an evening dedicated to honoring and uplifting our frontline heroes,” the actor said in a statement. “This nonpartisan event supports The Academy for Nursing and Health Occupations, a 501(c)(3) organization that trains 350-400 nurses every year, directly addressing the critical shortage of healthcare professionals in Palm Beach County.”

Stamos continued: “Supporting nurses isn’t political — it’s essential. These are the people who care for us and our families when we need it most, and I believe we should show up for them with the same unwavering dedication they show up with every single day. I stand by the importance of healthcare, of service, and of investing in those who care for our communities.”

Dave Coulier Defends ‘Loving Friend’ John Stamos for Wearing Bald Cap

Concluding his message, he wrote: “My values and political views remain unchanged and if you don’t donate to Palm Beach Ray of Hope, then please consider donating to” Democracy Forward, he added, including a link to the nonprofit organization.

(According to its website, Democracy Forward “provides legal representation and expert counsel to people and communities who make up the very fabric of American democracy — free of charge. We also leverage our collective power and the law to hold anti-democratic actors to account at the national level.”)

After sharing his Mar-a-Lago message in a Story, Stamos posted a video message on his Instagram grid in which he raised awareness for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

“Thank you for putting out your statement,” one fan replied in the comments section. “Please don’t go to that place again. There are many other places to support future nurses & I know you know that. Appreciate you being transparent and for the link you left for democracyforward.org.”

John Stamos Reflects on Loss, Supports Dave Coulier Amid Cancer Battle

Another wrote: “Don’t let that happen again uncle Jesse 💆🏻‍♀️😩🥰. Still a fan ❤❤.”

While spreading the word about causes he cares about, Stamos has also supported fellow Full House alum Dave Coulier amid his cancer battle. Coulier, 65, was diagnosed with stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma in October 2024. Earlier this month, Stamos shared happy news via Instagram, revealing that he’d learned that his “dear friend Dave has beaten cancer.”

“He fought like hell, with strength and heart and, true to form, Dave, a whole lot of humor,” Stamos said on April 1. “We FaceTimed constantly during the toughest days trying to find something, anything, to laugh about.”
