Despite Amazon’s recent habit of being late with its lineup of movies, April has some really intriguing additions to Prime Video’s library.
Prime Video has a handful of box-office hits like Top Gun with Tom Cruise, but the real prize is finding the underrated movies that deserve a larger audience.
That’s why Watch with Us has put together this new list for the four underrated Amazon Prime Video movies you need to watch in April 2025.
This month’s picks include a wild British comedy, a controversial sci-fi flick, an action thriller and some darkly delicious evil dining plans.
‘Death at a Funeral’ (2007)
There are two versions of Death at a Funeral, and both of them have Peter Dinklage in them. But for the record, this is the original 2007 British film and not the 2010 American remake. Two brothers, Daniel (Matthew Macfadyen) and Robert (Rupert Graves), reunite at their father’s funeral, but old tensions quickly resurface between them.
The funeral soon descends into a comedic farce, especially when a stranger named Peter (Dinklage) shows up with secrets about their dad and a plan to extort the family. It may take a murder to keep Peter from talking, and even that might not be enough to stop him.

‘Passengers’ (2016)
Passengers was rejected by some potential moviegoers long before it hit theaters because they didn’t like the premise. Keep in mind that they had never seen it, but they were very offended that Chris Pratt’s character, Jim Preston, forces a woman named Aurora Lane (Jennifer Lawrence) to awaken from suspended animation decades before their starship reaches its intended destination.

The film doesn’t excuse Jim’s actions, but it does demonstrate the crippling loneliness he feels as the only human on the ship who can’t re-enter his stasis pod due to a malfunction. Waking up Aurora may have revived Jim’s will to live, but he also knows that telling her the truth about what happened may end their burgeoning relationship

‘Safe House’ (2012)
Denzel Washington doesn’t always get to play antiheroes, but he took full advantage of the opportunity to do so in Safe House. Former CIA operative Tobin Frost (Washington) turned his back on his country and made a good living selling secrets. After a deal gone bad leaves Frost outnumbered and vulnerable, he turns himself in to the American consulate in South Africa.
That’s where Matt Weston (Ryan Reynolds) comes in. No one bothered to use his safe house until the CIA’s black ops decided to torture Frost for info. However, the arrival of Frost’s enemies forces both him and Weston to overcome their mutual distrust of one another to survive.

‘The Menu’ (2023)
In The Menu, celebrity chef Julian Slowik (Ralph Fiennes) is cooking up the meal of a lifetime at Hawthorne, an exclusive restaurant where only the richest of the rich can even get a table. Slowik sees their collective sins as well as his own, and he’s going to usher them from this world in a bloody affair.

The one proverbial fly in his ointment is Margot (Anya Taylor-Joy), a woman who wasn’t on Slowik’s guest list. Slowik knows how to handle his fellow sinners. But dealing with Margot threatens Slowik’s grand plans, and he can’t have that.
