
Northern Maine can expect to get anywhere from 4 to 7 inches of snowfall throughout the day Tuesday, with snowfall starting early in the morning.
The snowfall is expected through the central highlands, the Katahdin region, northern and eastern regions of the state and in the North Maine Woods.
Snowfall will likely start around 4 a.m. Tuesday and conclude around 4 a.m. Wednesday according to forecasters with the Caribou National Weather Service.
Morning and evening commutes may be affected by slippery road conditions, and a winter weather advisory has been issued ahead of the storm.
Looking at central Penobscot, southern Piscataquis and northern Washington counties, anywhere from 3 to 5 inches of snow could fall throughout the day Tuesday. Snow is expected to impact travel, with blowing snow causing low visibility.
The westernmost regions and some of the southern and coastal communities could see rainfall through the day Tuesday, with some snow accumulation at high elevations.
High temperatures Tuesday will be relatively consistent, with highs in the low to mid 30s throughout the northern and eastern regions, and daytime temperatures in the high 30s and low 40s across Maine’s coastal and southern regions.
Temperatures are expected to remain chilly on Wednesday, but will likely rise to the mid 40s Thursday and approach the high 40s heading into the weekend.
