Morgan Wallen got candid about how he’s not thrilled with some aspects of being famous just days after his controversial early exit from Saturday Night Live.

“It’s still weird, and there’s parts of [fame] that I don’t like,” the country singer, 31, said during the Wednesday, April 2, episode of Theo Von’s “Last Weekend” podcast. “I think anybody who has to deal with that … it’s not ideal.”

Wallen continued: “It’s not ideal to go everywhere, and even if you don’t get bothered, you were on edge the whole time because you thought you might. There’s things that you just don’t do. There’s just things you don’t do anymore.”

While Wallen can’t participate in some of his previous activities as a public figure, there are some hobbies that he’s been able to keep up with, like hunting.

“I can go be with my buddies. I’m in the middle of nowhere. I can be at ease,” he explained. “I can not stress out. You just find ways to supplement it, I think, you know?”

Von understood where Wallen was coming from, noting it would be hard for the “Love Somebody” musician to go to a place like a bar where he would immediately get recognized.

“It’s definitely the best thing for me. I mean, if you’re using a bar as a specific example, that’s definitely the best thing for me,” Wallen quipped. “I ain’t been in a bar since the last time I was in a bar that everybody knows about.”

Wallen was referring to being arrested last year after allegedly throwing a chair at Eric Church’s establishment in Nashville. The singer told Von that the incident was “the last time” he “was in a bar.” (Wallen was sentenced to one week in a DUI education center and eight months probation after he pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment without a weapon.)

Throughout his career, Wallen has had his fair shares of ups and downs since stepping into the spotlight. Most recently, he stirred up controversy during his appearance on Saturday Night Live. After host Mikey Madison wrapped up the March 29 episode, Wallen walked off the stage in front of the cameras before the sketch show’s end credits fully rolled. Hosts and musical guests typically remain on stage during the credits to mingle with the cast. The singer also reportedly dropped out of a musical sketch, Variety reported earlier this week. (Joe Jonas appeared in the skit instead.)

Following the episode, Wallen subsequently took to social media seemingly sharing his excitement to leave New York City.

“Get me to God’s country,” the singer wrote via his Instagram Story alongside a photo of a private jet.

Wallen later dropped merchandise that read “Get Me to God’s Country” on his website.
