University of Maine senior center and leading scorer Harrison Scott has signed a one-year entry level contract with the National Hockey League’s Dallas Stars for the 2025-26 season and will report to their American Hockey League affiliate, the Texas Stars.

The undrafted free agent signed an amateur tryout contract for the remainder of this season.

He will join Black Bear teammates Nolan Renwick and Taylor Makar in the AHL.

Renwick signed a free agent deal with the Pittsburgh Penguins and will be playing for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins and Makar signed with the Colorado Avalanche, the team that drafted him in the seventh round, and he will play for the Colorado Eagles.

Scott, an alternate captain from San Jose, California, set career single-season highs in goals (18), assists (17), points (35), face-off wins (421), face-off winning percentage (56.7) and shots on goal (133).

His 35 points were tops on the team and his 18 goals tied him with Makar for the team high.

His six power play goals were second to Thomas Freel’s eight.

He had two game-winners, a shorthanded goal and he blocked 35 shots. He was plus-13 in plus-minus.

A player receives a plus-one if his team scores an even-strength or shorthanded goal and a minus-one if the opponent scores one.

The 6-foot, 190-pound Scott played in all situations and had two goals and two assists in three Hockey East playoff games as the Black Bears won their first Hockey East championship since 2004 and earned their second consecutive NCAA Tournament berth.

He assisted on Luke Antonacci’s tying goal in the 4-3 double overtime win over Northeastern in the semifinals, and scored what proved to be the game-winner in the Black Bears’ 5-2 win over UConn in the title game.

Scott was chosen to the Hockey East All-Tournament team.

Scott transferred to UMaine from Bentley University two years ago and flourished at UMaine.

After notching 12 goals and 14 assists for 26 points at Bentley, he scored 33 goals and assisted on 29 others for 62 points in his 75 games at UMaine.

He had 15 goals and 12 assists in 37 games last season.

He became just the eighth Hockey East player since the start of the 2005-06 season to score 30 goals in their first 60 career games in the conference.
