Mardens will be opening a new location in Farmington this spring.
The surplus and salvage retailer announced the news on its Facebook account on Friday afternoon. A call to a Mardens spokesperson was not immediately returned, and details on the grand opening of the 634 Wilton Road location were not immediately available.
Mardens closed its Rumford location in January 2023, citing unaddressed safety issues.
Mardens will be holding open interviews on April 10 and April 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the new Farmington location.
Mardens has 13 stores in Maine in Madawaska, Presque Isle, Houlton, Calais, Lincoln, Brewer, Ellsworth, Waterville, Lewiston, Scarborough, Biddeford, Sanford and Gray.
The retailer was recently sued for selling counterfeit Patagonia brand clothing, according to a lawsuit filed in district court on March 18. Marden’s General Manager Fox Keim told the Bangor Daily News that Mardens “unknowingly purchased inappropriately labeled Patagonia product.”
