An Etna woman accused of fatally stabbing her boyfriend will have a mental competency evaluation.
Heidi Tasker, 36, is charged with intentional or knowing murder in Penobscot County Superior Court. She is accused of fatally stabbing Luke Norris, 41, Friday morning at their home in Etna.
She appeared via video call from the Penobscot County Jail on Monday. Her first appearance was delayed a week.
Tasker will undergo a mental competency evaluation which will determine if she is able to understand the criminal charge against her and if she can proceed with the court case.
Tasker was denied bail and will remain in the Penobscot County Jail.
Tasker pleaded guilty to reckless conduct and manslaughter in 2011 for a crash that killed her boyfriend, 19-year-old Kale Page. She was driving a pickup truck when she lost control and it rolled over.
Tasker, then 23, was sentenced to 11 months for the reckless conduct and 10 years for manslaughter with all but nine months suspended.
She was charged with aggravated assault in October 2019 for allegedly hitting Norris with her car, WABI reported. She pleaded guilty to domestic violence assault in November 2019 and was sentenced to 30 days of incarceration.
In October 2008, a charge of assault against Tasker was dismissed in Penobscot County, according to previous reporting.
