The Trump administration has essentially declared war on the American people. No one appears safe except the billionaires who were on the stage with Trump during his inauguration. It’s a war on veterans, on federal workers, on our public healthcare infrastructure, and on the ability of kids to get through kindergarten through 12th grade. All of the things we are counting on to provide a path to prosperity, they are taking those things away.
And it is important to acknowledge why they’re doing it. It is to provide tax cuts for the wealthiest of the wealthy Americans. These are the people who will benefit from a tax cut, which even after cutting all the social programs will still leave a $2 trillion hole in the deficit.
U.S. House Republicans want to cut $880 billion from Medicaid. This could throw millions of low income children off of their healthcare. A larger number of seniors depend on Medicaid to stay in nursing homes. Community health centers receive 40 percent of their revenue from Medicaid.
Then Trump plans to come after Social Security. He is spreading the lie that Social Security is full of waste and fraud. In fact, 99 percent of Social Security beneficiaries earned their benefits.
House Republicans intend to cut nutrition programs by $230 billion, which will deny children lunch in school.
The ultra wealthy in this country apparently are not satisfied with the billions they already possess, they want more and they are going to get more money by letting kids in school go hungry.
