A train caught on fire in Lincoln on Wednesday afternoon.
The train was passing through Winn when the engine malfunctioned, sending out sparks and ash from its exhaust and starting a wildfire, according to the Lincoln Fire Department.
Firefighters contained the blaze.
When the train began moving again, it caught fire when it reached the Penobscot Valley Avenue crossing in Lincoln, the department said Wednesday evening.
Smoke and fire blew out of the engine compartment. Crews quickly gained control of the blaze, which was likely caused by a blown turbo in the motor, according to the Fire Department.
The blaze never escaped the engine compartment.
The train was expected to remain at the site until a maintenance crew or another train can remove it.
