Does no one in Rep. Jared Golden’s office read bills before he votes and opines on them? Golden said the continuing resolution he voted for “continued federal spending at Biden-era levels” but that’s simply not true. Here are some of many, many examples.
It zeroed out funding for the Agricultural Research Center’s facilities, slashed funding for election security systems, zeroed out funding for community policing, and cut funding for energy technology loans. It eliminated earmarked funding for specific projects to go to particular states, including hundreds of millions that Maine will now not receive. The House version slashed funding to the District of Columbia; the Senate amended the continuing resolution to restore this. Overall, non-defense spending was cut by $13 billion.
Either Golden misled his constituents, was ignorant about what he was voting on, or both. None of those possibilities should be acceptable.
