Justin Bieber has shared further insight into his mindset via an emotional online post.
The musician, 31, took to Instagram Stories on Sunday, March 16, to post a message that candidly detailed recent thoughts. “I was always told when I was a kid not to hate,” the “What Do You Mean?” singer wrote in black text against a white background. “But it made me feel like I wasn’t allowed to have it and so I didn’t tell anyone I’ve had it.”
The post continued, “Which made me feel like like [sic] I have been drowning feeling unsafe to acknowledge it. I think we can only let hate go by first acknowledging it’s there. How couldn’t we feel hate from all of the hurt we have experienced?”
Justin, who has faced months of public scrutiny for his ongoing behavior, accompanied the post with SZA’s 2022 track, “I Hate U.” He posted further Instagram Stories in the hours that followed, including a photo of what appeared to be Justin’s neck and chest, depicting various tattoos. The tattoo post was paired with Stevie Wonder’s “Summer Soft.”

Sunday’s Instagram activity came just days after the singer revealed via the social media platform that he has felt “unworthy” for a long time. “People told me my whole life, ‘Wow Justin, u deserve that’ and I personally have always felt unworthy,” Justin wrote via his Instagram Story on Thursday, March 13. “Like I was a fraud.”
The post continued, “Like when people told me I deserve something, it made me feel sneaky, like, damn if they only knew my thoughts. How judgmental I am, how selfish I really am. They wouldn’t be saying this. I say all this to say if you feel sneaky, welcome to the club. I definitely feel unequipped and unqualified most days.” It was paired with the track “Sneaky Sneaky” by Gold Tiger.
In February, amid rumors that Justin seemed troubled due to outings where he appeared disheveled and multiple cryptic Instagram posts, a representative for Justin told TMZ that rumors about him using hard drugs were “absolutely not true,” calling the speculation “exhausting and pitiful.” Per the rep at the time, discussion about Justin’s mental health “shows that despite the obvious truth, people are committed to keeping negative, salacious, harmful narratives alive.”
In a carousel of Instagram photos shared the following month, Justin posted after a bike ride where he blew smoke out of his mouth and held a bong in his hand. The photos were not captioned.
