A federal judge has denied Attorney General Aaron Frey’s request to reinstate Maine’s 72-hour waiting period for gun purchases while the case is appealed.
U.S. District Judge Lance Walker suspended the waiting period and last month sided with gun rights advocates who challenged the constitutionality of the law.
Frey has appealed the case to the 1st U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Boston and had asked the court to reinstate the waiting period.
