Bangor is imposing temporary weight limits on some roads.
Heavy loads won’t be permitted on the following roads until at least May 15 unless the air temperature is 32 degrees Fahrenheit or lower and there’s no water showing in road cracks:
— Church Road
— Finson Road
— Davis Road
— Burleigh Road between Bomarc Road and Essex Street
— Mount Hope Avenue between Howard Street and Route 2
— Kenduskeag Avenue between Griffin Road and Broadway
— Essex Street from Lancaster Avenue to the city line
Under city ordinance, the heavy load limits are for protecting the integrity of Bangor’s streets. Emergency vehicles, public utility vehicles, municipal vehicles, home heating fuel delivery trucks, bulk milk or feed trucks with a state exemption certificate, or any vehicle registered for a gross weight in excess of 23,000 pounds but without a load are exempt. Permits for crossing the posted roads can be obtained from Bangor Public Works.
The weight limits may be lifted earlier, depending on the weather conditions, the city said Wednesday.
