I understand the Republican Party’s urge to downsize the federal government and reduce wasteful spending. What I don’t understand is how President Donald Trump, Elon Musk and the other billionaires can be so heartless in disparaging and abruptly firing dedicated federal employees and terminating programs that people in Maine, the U.S., and abroad depend upon. Would you want to be dealt with that way in your job?
Shame on Sen. Susan Collins and other Republicans for largely standing by while our fellow citizens are treated as if they were our enemies.
