I am 82 years old, and I’ve lived through many political crises in this country. But, I have never seen an attack on our democracy like this. In the past, there was bipartisan opposition to lawlessness. Today, the guardrails are being dismantled before our eyes.
Congress is abdicating its powers, government employees who push back at unlawful access to classified information are resigning, and thousands more are being fired indiscriminately.
And what about Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) grants being put on hold? The withdrawal for the Paris climate agreement? The list goes on and on.
And I wonder: What will happen to my and millions of others’ Social Security checks once DOGE has access to payment information and processes?
