MACHIAS — The Machias Arts Council, an all-volunteer group of more than 70 artists and patrons, is sponsoring a 7-day motorcoach trip to New York City during NYC Art Week.
Along with some of the world’s most famous sights — the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, the 9/11 Memorial, Times Square, Central Park, Wall Street and more — the trip will include art museums and galleries as well as many street art events and displays.
MAC Secretary Sharon Mack of Machias, an experienced bus trip organizer, said that the aim of the trip is sightseeing with a focus on the arts. “Prepare to be inspired,” Mack said. “We have scheduled the trip to coincide with New York City Art Week and this is a magical time of year, with pop up galleries, street vendors, arts-in-the-parks events and more. But non-artists will also have plenty to see and experience with three full days of sightseeing and exploring “the city that never sleeps.”
The trip will include 7-days and 6-nights accommodations, June 19-25, a professional city tour guide, 10 meals, luxury motor coach transportation, and free time to explore the city on your own. The bus will leave from Machias and is able to pick up passengers along I-95 South, including at Ellsworth and Bangor. The cost is $1039 per person, based on double occupancy. There are only 50 available seats. Single rooms are available for an additional cost.
Those interested in the trip should provide a $75 non-refundable deposit to reserve each seat before April 1. Final payments are due on April 12. The deposit will be applied towards the final cost.
Mack will be on the trip and will be able to assist passengers as needed. For more information, to make a reservation or to learn of the complete itinerary, contact Mack at 207-812-2320 or [email protected].
