Madonna caught wind of Sabrina Carpenter’s March 2025 Vogue cover and immediately gushed over the photography inspired by the one and only.
“Is this a Valentine’s present to me? 
,” Madonna, 66, commented on Vogue’s official Instagram account, which featured Carpenter, 25, dressed in a custom baby blue Dolce & Gabbana corset, similar to the “Material Girl” singer’s 1990 Blonde Ambition Tour costume.

Sabrina Carpenter channeled not one but two icons for her first-ever Vogue cover: Marilyn Monroe and Madonna.
Carpenter, 25, turned back the clock in a number of retro-esque ensembles for the March 2025 issue, which was published on Tuesday, February 11.
Photographed by the legendary Steven Meisel, Carpenter wore a custom blue Dolce & Gabbana corset on the cover, which was reminiscent of her Short n’ Sweet Tour lingerie-inspired wardrobe. The design featured a silky bra top, lace-up sides and an itty-bitty mini skirt It also drew parallels to the satin cone-bra bodysuit that Madonna famously wore during her 1990 Blonde Ambition Tour.

For glam, hairstylist Guido Palau gave her platinum blonde locks a Marilyn-worthy makeover, courtesy of big-barrel coils with her bangs voluminous curled. Thanks to Pat McGrath, her makeup featured a dewy base, filled in eyebrows, bronze eyeshadow, winged eyeliner and lined lips.
Elsewhere in the photoshoot, she looked oh-la-lovely in a red Gucci dress with a strappy back and sheer lace finish. Styled by Ib Kamara, Carpenter stunned in the look, which was paired with feathered Paris Texas heels, plus Tiffany & Co. diamonds befitting a modern-day Material Girl.
Perhaps her most Monroe-inspired look of all was a satin Prada column dress with Old Hollywood vibes. Adding to the effect, the Grammy winner wore a LaPointe plumage jacket slug with a gargantuan Graff yellow-diamond necklace, earrings and ring set.
While chatting with Vogue contributor Abby Agguire, Carpenter opened up about her off-duty style, which may surprise fans to know that it’s nothing like her sultry stage looks and vintage red-carpet cosplay.

“I dress like a little boy for most of the day, if I’m trying to hide,” she told the fashion bible. “[My fans] don’t even know it’s me, and I’ll be standing right behind them.”
On the crimson rug, Carpenter has taken inspiration from icons including Monroe, Madonna, Shirley MacLaine and more. At the 2024 VMAs, she sparkled in a vintage Bob Mackie gown that Madonna, 66, donned at the 1991 Academy Awards. The design, which hugged her curves in all the right places, was originally inspired by Monroe ,who wore it to the premiere of the 1953 film, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.
More recently, she channeled MacLaine, 90, at the 2025 Grammys in a baby blue backless JW Anderson dress. During the show, she referenced a 1978 Goldie Hawn performance while tap dancing in a custom Dolce & Gabbana blazer and blue corset. It’s safe to say Carpenter will be looking to the stars again for more future sartorial inspiration.
