
The flu continues to surge in Maine, with cases nearly doubling over the past two weeks.
The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention said it recorded 1,900 cases in the week ending Feb. 8, for a total of more than 6,900 cases this season.
And the number of hospitalizations nearly doubled over the past week to 131.
The agency said flu severity is highest in Hancock and Piscataquis counties.
