Another couple quiet days of weather is expected in Maine before our next round of snow brings a messy Thursday morning commute. Another more significant storm is in the cards for the weekend.

For Tuesday, we’ll see a mix of sun and clouds with highs in the low 30s. A few evening snow showers and squalls will be possible in the mountains and foothills.

Wednesday will be nice and sunny, but colder with highs in the lower 20s.

Thursday

Our next round of snow moves through for the first half of Thursday with slick travel expected.

Timing

Snow begins 1 and 3 a.m. across Maine on Thursday. It will fall steadily through the morning commute, with slick travel expected.

A changeover to sleet or even freezing drizzle is likely by mid-morning, with precipitation wrapping up by the early afternoon.

Amounts

Two to 5 inches of snow are expected across the state, with an icy crust of ice or coating of sleet on top.

We get a break in storm activity for Valentine’s Day on Friday. We’ll see sunshine and highs in the 20s.

Another storm is on the way for the weekend.

Significant amounts of snowfall or wintry precipitation looks possible. It will likely begin Saturday afternoon and then continue through Sunday evening.

As of right now, it looks like it will start as snow and then change over to a wintry mix, possibly changing back to snow as the storm ends.

As of right now, almost all wintry weather is favored. However, if we see warmer trends, some rain could mix in. Stay tuned.
